Yeah yeah, I know, Google Maps is old by now. Everyone is done playing with it and now simply use it as an every day tool for finding directions to that LAN party this weekend, but what if the LAN party is being hosted on the moon? Well, yee’d be fucked as the pirates would say! Unless, of course, they created Google Moon!

Google Moon is basically Google Satellite Maps, but on the moon. Now its not nearly as big, it only really covers one Google Maps screen, but who knows, they may eventually get imagery of the whole moon and allow us to do some sight seeing on the moon without the large price tag being charged by the Russians to take you up there.

It will basically show you the main landing zone section for the Apollo missions, including Apollo 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, and 17. As well, it also places a link to the boring old Earth Google Maps, but who wants that when you can learn about the moon!

There are a few nice new spiffy updates released in the past few days. We will start with the big one.

• Mac OSX 10.4.2 - The new update for Tiger contains a lot of fixes in terms of compatibilty, some performance and memory usage enhancements, but the largest one in my opinion is the new dashboard interface and memory/cpu enhancements. Since dashboard is always running, I think everyone should notice some performance boosts. This update is available via the Software Update option in the Apple Menu.
• Firefox 1.0.5 - New firefox update, may or may not contain any performance ehancments, but it’s suppose to be mainly a security update, along with some stability improvements. Myself, it already froze once in Tiger, and I’ve just finished moving all my bookmarks from Firefox to Safari (which was as easy as exporting them from firefox, and then importing them to safari and moving them into the appropriate folders based on where I wanted them to display). The windows flavour runs fine as usual, nothing noticable yet. Grab it from mozilla.org.
• ObjectBar 1.2 - I think I have mentioned this program before. It basically mimics the OSX dock on your windows box. This new version is a great improvement on the magnification and animations of the dock itself. The program is not bloated at all once you play with the settings, but it still has many advanced features that allow it to be more functional then the OSX dock. I’d rather have the real thing, but for my windows computer it works well. You be the judge. Get either the free or advanced version here.

Wow, it’s been a while again, hasn’t it. I am a bloody lazy chap aren’t I. Well, heres some things that have been going on lately.

Work is the same old work. Talking to Americans all day, fixing internet. Not the most fun I could have on a regular basis, but hey, it pays the bills. No real change in this area.

The web site hasn’t really been changed. I still have a whole new design that I want to implement soon, but I rarely spend time working on it and its very primative in its current stage. Ideas are slowly coming, but don’t expect it any time soon.

Me and a bunch of people went camping a few weeks ago. Yeah we got the boot the first night. Apparently we were too loud, but I think its because I’m a Mac user. OS discrimination I tell you!

And on that note, I bought a 12″ iBook about a month ago. I love having a laptop with wireless built in. I’m able to roam about the house with internet access, and stream my 20 some of gigabytes of music in my iTunes library on my PC to my Mac. The only thing the iBook needs is some more RAM, she lags pretty bad some times with only 256MBs of RAM running 10.4 Tiger. But once I get all my debts payed off, I’ll be looking to upgrade that.

My free domain name, jessedyck.info, was going to expire in a few months, so I decided to pick up jessedyck.com from godaddy.com, so in a month or 2 when the site seemingly goes down, its really that you’re using the expired .info domain name and should switch to the new .com.

My buddy was over tonight. He left me some Lab Lite, so I’m stuck drinking that right now. After a nice Stella and some Rickards Red, Lab Lite tastes like water. And its warm!

One of my projects right now is trying to write a PHP script that can access the iTunes for Windows COM object. With that hosted on my PC, I could then control my iTunes from my iBook. Since my PC has the sound system hooked up to it, I would really like some way to remotely control it on my iBook. So far its not going well. It looks like I am not the only person on the internet trying to do this, and no one else is having much luck. But hell, I’m not giving up any time soon!
