Web Site Design Process

Saturday, April 30th, 2005

Hey Hey, long time no post. No real reason, just haven’t found anything interesting enough to post. Maybe my standards are too high, I don’t know.

Anyways, I just dugg this up. It’s basically an animated GIF that some guy created to show the entire process of designing a web site. This particular site looks to be using css to style most of the page, you’ll notice how it starts out with just a blank white screen, then slowly adds alignment, font faces and colors. Really nice idea, should help the non-developers around here see how its done.

What are you waiting for, take a peak!

Google Maps

Saturday, April 9th, 2005

This is really cool. I could play with Google Maps all day now that they added the Satalite Imagery. I must say, they put out some amazing stuff, Gmail (2GBs worth now), the Google search, and now Google Maps with Salalite veiw, absolutely briliant!

Anyways, I found this wicked site that links to a bunch of famous places using Google Maps. Some of my favourites are the shot with the 2 SR-71 Blackbirds, the shot of the Saturn V rocket on its side, theres 2 with Aircraft Carriers, and cant forget Alcatraz, even though its not that great a picture. There is also one of Area 51, but as expected, its a bit blurry when you zoom in. Im sure there where quite a few governments telling Google what they could and couldn’t index.

So without further ado, here is the site!

On that note, I don’t even want to begin to think about how Google indexs all those images, and is able to spit them out at such high speeds. That would cause my brain to implode. So instead, I’ve been coding the site a lot lately. I will throw it all public soon I hope, so long as this learning curve doesn’t get any steeper!
